The Silent Passenger"
A young woman, Sara, works late nights as a rideshare driver in a quiet town. It's an easy gig, but tonight, things feel different. The air is heavy, and there's an unsettling stillness to the streets.
Sara receives a new ride request from an unfamiliar part of town. The pickup location is in the middle of nowhere, a dark road lined with trees, no houses in sight. She debates whether to accept, but money is tight, so she reluctantly agrees.
As she drives up, the GPS indicates she’s arrived, but there’s no one around. She turns on her hazard lights, scanning the area. Just as she’s about to cancel the ride, a man steps out of the shadows. He’s wearing a dark hoodie, head down, obscuring his face. Without saying a word, he opens the back door and slides in.
Sara's uneasy, but she reminds herself it’s just another fare. She starts driving, trying to make small talk, but the man remains completely silent. The only sound in the car is the low hum of the engine and her nervous breathing.
The passenger’s destination is marked, but he taps the screen, changing it to a location farther away, deep into the countryside. "Take this route," he finally speaks, his voice low and hoarse. He directs her down increasingly isolated roads, far from town, where the streetlights disappear, and the trees grow thick.
Sara’s anxiety builds as the darkness swallows them. She glances in the rearview mirror, but the man sits still, staring straight ahead. His hood keeps his face hidden. She tries to ask where exactly they're going, but he only replies, “Keep driving.”
As they get deeper into the woods, Sara’s phone buzzes. A new notification pops up, warning her that there’s been an accident on the road ahead. Confused, she pulls over to check her phone for more details.
But that’s when she sees it—a news article with a photo of her car on the screen, alongside the headline: "Woman Found Dead After Picking Up Mysterious Passenger." The photo is dated for tonight. Her hands begin to shake. It must be some kind of mistake… right?
Heart pounding, she turns around to confront the man in the backseat, but the seat is empty. The door never opened, and the seatbelt is still fastened. He’s just… gone.
Panicked, Sara tries to call for help, but her phone signal is dead. The road is deserted, and her car won’t start again. She’s stranded in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by darkness, with no way to explain what just happened.
Suddenly, she hears a faint whisper—coming from the backseat. It’s the same voice: "Keep driving." The rearview mirror begins to fog up, and she watches in horror as the words "I’m still here" are slowly written in the condensation.
The camera pulls out from the car, showing it parked in the middle of the dark, silent road. As the scene fades to black, a final whisper is heard: "You’ll never make it home."
